Applying Wood Saturation Coat of Resin:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. If there is existing wood in the area(s) you will be working in you can also apply this treatment for a better bond:<\/span>\n
      \n
    • Remove all paint and foreign material from surface of old wood<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Make sure wood is clean and dry.
      \n<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Sand surface with 60 or 80 Grit to rough up the surface.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Catalyze\/mix resin and thin with solvent.<\/span>\n
        \n
      • Mix Epoxy and Hardener and thin 25% with epoxy solvent.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Catalyze Polyester or Vinylester and thin 25% with acetone.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • NEVER mix POLYESTER and EPOXY together.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Brush or roll thinned resin onto the wood.<\/span>\n
          \n
        • Cover as many surfaces as possible.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Allow resin to cure.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Sand lightly with 60 or 80 Grit to de-burr surface.<\/span>\n
            \n
          • DO NOT sand thru the primer coat.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • You are now ready to lay up your glass.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The sealed wood will now have a better water resistance than plain untreated wood.\u00a0 A saturation coat will also work for any wood exposed to the weather, so it may be used in many different building applications and not just for the marine environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
